I have a confession to make.....vacation is on my mind.
Larilyn's Tip of the Week: Everything needs to restart sometimes
I have been on an adventure the last few weeks. Let me tell you about it.....
For those that don't happen to know, In Motion is not my full time job anymore - hasn't been for almost three years at this point. I still work here on the side, but I have a different full time job.
Over the last month or so, that full time job has gotten CRAZY. There were so many issues in other departments that needed urgent attention, and I was asked to help out in a full time capacity. So, I was still doing my regular full time duties, as well as these additional full time duties. I was still doing side work for In Motion. I had some crazy emotional upheaval happening in my life.
Those closest to me were telling me that I needed to take a step back. Take a break, give myself a rest, allow myself to decompress. But I couldn't do it. All these things needed to be done. Rest would only make things worse.
So one day, I was walking to a staff meeting and.....no joke, my foot just.....broke.
And I found myself in a hospital, having two surgeries, and am now going into my third week of not working or being at home or any of my normalcy.
What on earth does this have to do with a tech tip you may ask?
Well, I learned an important lesson. Sometimes......things break. Sometimes they may still seem functional, but not quite right, like my darling foot.
And when that happens, sometimes the fix is.....to turn it off and turn it on again.
I know, it's the most cliche IT line of all time. However, there's a reason for that.
If I had a dollar for every time I have had someone come to me for tech help, from my parents to my friends, to clients at In Motion, and the fix was as simple as them restarting their device? I'd have enough money that I wouldn't be worrying about how high my medical bills are going to be!
So if your computer, or a certain program, or your phone, or your tablet is not acting like it should - turn it off and turn it on again!
Because apparently that's what my body and foot needed!
