Today's tip is for Microsoft Office in general - not just Word, or only Excel.
Larilyn's Tip of the Week: Microsoft Office - Format Painter Part 2
A few months ago, I told you about a tip that is for Microsoft Office in general - not just Word, or only Excel. It was about how to use Format Painter in Microsoft Office applications. If you missed it, you can read the original tip here. Go and read it. I'll wait!
In that original tip, I mentioned that I went years without even knowing about the Format Painter, but once I learned about it, I used it everywhere!
There's something about the Format Painter - it's the gift that just keeps giving to me!! After using it singularly for years now, I just learned about something new that it does and I HAD to pass along!
All this time, when I would use the tool I would highlight the original format I liked, and then click the Format Painter icon and apply it to the cell or sentence or header that I wanted to. I would then move on. If I had several sections that needed the same formatting, I would just re-highlight and click on the icon again to do another section.
I was today years old when I found out.....
If you DOUBLE CLICK on the Format Painter icon after highlight the formatting you like, it will turn your cursor into a Format Painter tool. It actually changes your cursor and you can continue to click on different sections of your sheet or document to keep applying the same format to different content without having to go back and re-highlight and re-click on the Format Painter icon.
Once you've applied that format to all of the sections that you need to, you just re-click on the Format Painter icon (or hit Esc) to basically "turn off" the formatting cursor.
So not a long tip, and not even a totally original tip - just a tip upgrade if you will!!
